The Jupiter-9 85mm T2.1 – MKII Rehousing is a highly regarded Soviet telephoto lens, based on the classic Zeiss Sonnar design, and part of the popular lens trio (37mm, 58mm, 85mm). The MKII version transforms it into a professional cinema lens with a robust body, standard 0.8 gear rings, internal focusing, and a hybrid focus system for smooth and precise rotation, even with heavy optical blocks. It features a 15-blade aperture, delivering soft, round, and creamy bokeh at any setting, making it ideal for portraits and tight, cinematic compositions. While the minimum focusing distance of 0.8 m is not exceptional, the lens excels in controlled close-up shots. Fully compatible with professional cinema cameras (ARRI, RED, Blackmagic, ZCam, Kinefinity), it may require a replacement iris ring when used on 35mm film cameras to provide sufficient clearance above the mirror.
